Albania

In September 2006 FRDP was contacted by the Ministry of Interior of Albania. They requested FRDP's assistance to write the Fire Laws of Albania and to modernize the country's Fire Service.

Why Help Albania
Albania is a country that had been for half a century closed to the outside world under the oppressive rule of the marxist Enver Hoxha. Subsequent to his denmise Albania went through a period of turmoil culminating in civil strife in 1997. Since that time the country has been trying desoperately to come of age and make up for the decades of darkness. The country is extremely poor despite it being only 50 km across the Adriatic Sea from Italy and bordering Greece - two European Union countries that enjoy a high standard of living.

The Problem
As a poor country with extremely limited resources and having been for so long distanced from Western advancement, Albania needs everything - it's fire service included. As the country is determined to bring its standards in line with the rest of Europe they want to begin by drawing up fire laws intended to protect its citizens.

The Albanian Government has asked FRDP to help them write the fire laws and assist in reorganizing and training their firefighters. As always, the help that is needed top be provided to save lives needs money.

Please help us help a nation that has the desire to improve and provide for trhe safety of their citizens.
